Project Components
Over 300km of Road Rehabilitation
The main component is the rehabilitation of national highways (Yangon – Pathein and Bago-Thanlyin highways) and expressway (Yangon-Mandalay expressway km0-km63). On the highways, deteriorated macadam pavement is being widened and upgraded to asphalt concrete. On the expressway, the cement concrete pavement will be overlaid with asphalt concrete, and the shoulders widened.
Pilot maintenance projects
Pilot contracts will be awarded for around 80km of periodic road maintenance using improved techniques, and new models for contracting. The locations of the pilots are to be determined.
Project Stakeholders
The project owner is the Ministry of Construction, Department of Highways
The project is financed by the Asian Development Bank (click here for more information) and the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund.
